Nemiana simplex may represent siphonocladalean chlorophyte algae on the underside of micaceous quartzose sandstone slabs from the Precambrian of Ukraine. Such green algae are commonly called 'ball or bubble algae'. So, Nemiana may not be an animal at all. Nemiana is found from the Yampol Member, Mogilev Formation, Balday Series, upper Vendian (= upper Ediacaran), upper Neoproterozoic of Novodnestrovsky Quarry, Podolia, Ukraine. The ediacaran biota existed from about 580 to 540 million years ago.
