Regulation of Gene Expression

Product Information
Materials for six lab activitiesGene expression refers to the manifestation of the genetic material of an organism as a collection of specific traits; in other words, the process by which a gene is expressed or expresses itself. In this lab, students discover how this process can be controlled by regulatory enzymes and temperature in a bacterial strain. The results of temperature fluctuations on the bacteria are easy to see - when the bacterial gene is expressed, and an enzyme is produced, the samples turn a brilliant shade of red! Includes: materials for six lab groups; student activity copymaster; teacher’s manual. Note: perishable materials - specify ship date.
