Perform vegetation studies to assess the plants growing in an area.
In this interactive entomological activity, students will use a meter quadrant square and surveyor flags to stake out one square meter of ground in up to 7 locations, and will examine the insects and other organisms found in those sectioned-off areas. For example, they can use a large Berlese funnel to collect and identify the different types of organisms dwelling in a square meter of leaf litter. Includes age-appropriate instructions for grades 4-7, 8-10 and 11-12.
