Determination of Concentration by Oxidation-Reduction Titration Lab Activity (ScholAR)
|
Product Information
Aligned with AP Chemistry Lab #8
In this activity, the percent of hypochlorite ion, ClO-, in a solution of commercial bleach will be determined by performing an oxidation-reduction titration with sodium thiosulfate. The amount of thiosulfate ions added during the titration is directly proportional to the amount of hypochlorite ions present in the bleach sample. The mole ratios will be used to calculate the molarity of the bleach; and then by using the density of commercial bleach, the percent of hypochlorite ion in the bleach will be calculated. The kit comes with enough materials for 15 setups. Chemical Contents:Bleach Hydrochloric Acid Potassium Iodide Sodium Thiosulfate Solution Starch Solution Additional Materials Required:Analytical Balance 250 mL Erlenmeyer Flasks 50 mL Buret 10 mL Graduated Cylinder 25 mL Graduated Cylinder Ring Stand and Clamp
