Amaryllis Propagation Kit

Product Information
Demonstrate how bulbs propagate. An amaryllis bulb is planted with the top third of the bulb exposed. Once blooms appear, a paintbrush is used to pollinate the flower by taking pollen from the stamen of one flower to brush onto the pistil of a second flower. Students let the flowers die off on the stems. When the petals have died away, the pistil will begin to swell. When seeds are fully formed, the pistil will split open, exposing the seeds. Students can conduct further experiments to see what happens when two bulbs are used and cross-pollinated, why leaves grow after the flower has bloomed, and why you let the bulb dry out and rest before it is replanted. Includes: 1 amaryllis bulb, 10” pot, paintbrush, bag of potting soil, clear hinged container, instructions.
